The 15 Questions Parliament Should Ask About Counter Extremism
I think that's probably getting a little too close to politics, which is an area I'm always very careful to avoid. But what I have set out in my report is 15 questions that Parliament needs to ask itself if a bill along these lines is produced. And one of those questions relates to the police and what it's going to do to perceptions of them. It's not surprising that some very experienced police officers have expressed their own reservations about this proposal. We should be doing something, shouldn't we, about nonviolent extremism? That argument has to be won by the forces of diversity, tolerance, open-mindedness. The government can participate in that debate. What it shouldn't do,
