There's been a generally accepted view of music for a while that essentially divides jonras along racial lines, where rock is white music and soul is black music. Clarence clemens was like the sole black member of bruce bringstein's band. And when he died, he was eulogized asqte a vessel of many great soul, gospel and r and b players who came before him. He brought an absolutely essential and soulful ingredient o both the sound of springstene and the spirit of the group. What what clarence clemen played was, like very much rock music.
