The Military's Views on Using Paratroopers in the Pacific

The Pacific at the time, and we're talking about 1944 here, was still subject to the Allied agreement of Germany first. The 11th airborne division only had 8,500 men organic to its own table of organization. Logistics was a massive challenge in the Pacific theater; there weren't a lot of airfields. Once supplies were delivered to them, units really had to sustain themselves in combat.
