The Magic of Alistair Crowley
Robert Anton Wilson was turned on to Alistair Crowley by Alan Watts, who recommended Israel. He dove whole hog into Crowley and seemed to pick it up extraordinarily quickly. And Joyce has a great deal of magic in his writing starting from his very first short story. So I would speculate that from reading all the magic and Joyce that it just sort of sunk into Wilson.
