Neurology Exam Prep Podcast

CHAPTER

What Is Conduction Block?

In a good, healthy nerve, most of your signal should arrive at the same time. But as you start to pick off axons in a nerves bundle, that's where dispersion comes from. If there's segmental demolination between the elbow and the wrist, sometimes it's so severe that the signal actually drops out entirely. This is actual loss of signal, which is termed conduction block. It can be a little bit confusing, because we're talking about amplitude, but we're really talking about milon.
