The Role of Social Exclusion in Motivations for Joining Terrorist Groups
Being socially excluded can often be a contributing factor as to why someone would want to go and join this sort of what looks to them often is a is a utopia. I met people who, you know, were part of these tribes in Syria who allied with ISIS because they felt as a tribe that during when Bashar al-Assad was president before the Civil War. Those are the ones who tended to radicalize a little bit more than those who weren't just allying. They were actually joining the group because this became sort of their new tribe, their community.
