People have been flocking to eureka springs in Arkansas for thousands of years. In the late 18 hundreds, white settlers began hearing rumors about the location and started moving in on land that had once been sacred to native americans. Doctor alva jackson suggested a man with an unrecorded problem take a daily soak in the water which he claimed cured his leg. The story spread quickly among people who thought fresh, cleane water had a sort of magical property to it at time when urban sprawl was turning cities into filthy centres of disease and death.
