Venezuelan opposition want some sort of political settlement that leads to a credible election on which they at least stand a chance of competing. One of the things that i assume that the madulla government wants is sanctions relief, lifting some of the sanctions. But when ugochavis came to power in 19 99 and began this process of realining venezuela away from the us,. we started to see a significant arms transfers from russia to venezuela, billions of dollars.
