Sandy first heard about womantown a few years ago and then became so passionate about the story that she made it her mission to find and interview as many members of the short lived community as she could. The women told sandy that womantown was inspired by underground music festivals in the 19 eighties. They said, when we went there, we saw what it was like if women were in charge of everything. You got that feeling for three or four days of what it would be like for women to create ther own community, their own festival,. Women were empowered. There were no men there at all.
