There were moves for instance to like a four field cycle introduction of turnips I think was actually quite a large improvement. potatoes in particular and a number of other new age new world crops are in fact a lot more productive in various conditions. It's confusing even to think about what it would mean to find the true cause of the industrial revolution because it's very clear that lots of complicated interconnected processes were going on.
