Decriminalisation of Trade Unions
This was a punishment for various kinds of sort of working class crime and including this one. We should say this was a thing sorry to interrupt that like you know there were kids who had stolen bread who were sent off to Australia at the time. I mean they remembered because it was seen as a kind of national outrage, it was Seen as an incredibly harsh sentence. Eventually the sentences were over the repealed, they were brought home after a few years. In some ways that's sort of the beginning of the process which leads by the 1870s to unions being decriminalised.
