Coronovirus Virus in Europe - The First Wave of Infections
On the fifteenth of june, iceland opened its borders to non essential visitors from 31 european nations. A month later, on the sixteenth of july, the country also lifted restrictions on visitors from 12 more countries including canada and new zealand. The opening gave a boost to the struggling tourism industry although numbers of visitors remained low. By october, coronovirus was more widespread in the community than it had been in the first wave - peaking at 291 infections per a hundred thousand people over two weeks.
