Desire As

Everybody on this call has looked in the mirror at least once today. That mirror is one of the ways that we approximate the desire of another. When you change your mind about an outfit in front of a mirror, you're not just approximating someone else's desire in order and in hopes of getting their attention. You are desiring like another. So this is the third move. From desire for, to desire of, to desire as. And this is what Lacan means in full when he says that man's desire is the desire of the other. I desire as an other. I want what you want.
