The Power of Daring
Fear is the epitative movement away from a future but imminent threatening evil. Daring involves emotion toward an evil that's not apparently surmountable. We cannot be drawn to evil in itself for Aquinas. The passion of daring moves you toward confronting the threat rather than your appetite moving you away from it.
