Do You Still Place an Epidural in a Pregnant Woman?
No large studies that showed the risk of bacterial meningitis in association with epidural placement is extremely low. We should be aware of active infections, but nerve- found aesthetic not a great idea if you suspect sepsis. But because morphine is a gold standard of post-operative care for c-section, I would still administer it. And certainly I don't want to give the opinion that we would withhold morphine as an appropriate post-c-section analgesia option.
