The Problem With Denial of God's Existence

If there is a place called hell, even if it's not quite the fire and brimstone that we've been sold throughout a lot of European and Western history. It still seems problematic to say that people deserve such a punishment on a few grounds. When faced with the truth of God's existence, when faced to faced with God, I think it would be very difficult for any rational person to deny him. The only possible explanation for this is that there's been something missing from the information that they've been given. They've misunderstood something through essentially no fault of their own.
