The Cell Type Specificity of CRISPR-OTH Marks
The cell type specificity of these edits is a highly desirable feature of this system. We actually took a gene that's not even expressed in the stem cell. The tau protein, an important gene in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease was methylated and turned those cells into a neuron where they normally would have turned on it. This means we can engineer stem cells so that they'll not only aren't expressing the sets of genes that we care about, but will never express them.
