The Importance of Completion in Poetry
I get them to act it out. I don't create the picture first. And I say, who wants to be a cat? Who want to be a rat and who wants to being a bat? Then you go back to the beginning. You know, the cat in the hat on a mat. So we've got now a picture of the hat with a rat and a bat. That's all these three animals in a hat. Well, that is just not possible. Once you've acted it out, the comprehension is a game changer. Because even with the simplest of poems, you have inference. We can't let anything go.
