Are There Any Space Weather Disturbing Disruptions?
There are three general kinds that we think about most often. The first one is solar flares, the solar photons from the sun. If they run into earth's magnetic shield, they can actually deform the magnetic shield and create currents which can flow into earth's supper atmosphere. So there can be issues with satellite drag. And if it's a large event, we get geomagnetically induced currents that can flow into long conducting wires like pagreds. But those are the kinds of disturbances that can get into our atmosphere change constituency a little bit. How much warning do we usually have that a specific event is going to happen? Is it pretty easy to predict?
