The Purpose of Beauty
Scruton: Beauty is something that's a premier human activity. And so he's going to be adamantly against the notion that it is in any sort of simple minded way, quote unquote, purely subjective. But if you say something is beautiful, you are making something that strives toward universality. He talks about that in the natural beauty section. We get to some architecture and stuff like that, but there's a whole chapter later in the book about that.
