The Spanish Tragedies
The Spanish tragedy was written by a young playwright named Thomas Kidd. It's often cited as one of the plays that marks the beginning of the modern English theatre. The plot arose out of an actual battle that had been fought between Spanish and Portuguese forces earlier in the decade called Battle of Alcantara.
