Frida Ghitis: In 1880, Friedrich Nietzsche was bedridden 260 out of 365 days. She says he had a parade of women come by to take care of him for weeks or months at a time. They saw the liberating message in his work, she says. Ghitis: He wrote of social structures crippling the individual. These women saw feminism as the next step to that higher liberation.
