The Environmental Laws Cannot Be Gutted

Sally Kohn's family comes from a mining town called Butte, Montana. She says the city is home to "the Berkeley pet," which is a giant pool of water in an abandoned mine. It was supposed to be cleaned up decades ago when the mine was shut down but never was, she says. The environmental laws can't be gutted if we actually want to raise up an industry around minerals, Kohn writes.
