W s. Merwin was an advocate for the environment and explored a sense of wonder at the universe. He wrote something like 50 books of poems and essays. Edward hirsh, another poet, called him the thoreau of ou era. We are standing by the water, thanking it, standing by the windows, looking out in our irections. With the animals dying around us, our lost feelings, we are saying thank you.
