The History of Coffee in Yemen
Around the 1450s coffee began to be being imported across the Red Sea into southern Yemen. The first users of coffee were some of the Sufi mystic sense, and they use it originally in their religious ceremonies. In 1511 there is a very famous trial that coffee was being drunk sociably amongst Muslim men. Coffee then moves from being purely this Kisha drunk in ceremonies to being drunk also as a social drink.
