The video essay form in general, at least for me, is like its documentng modes of spectatorship. It's this relationship that is built between the individual and the media. And again, i think what is so amazing about the film of ross s Sutherland is that he owns this spectatorial position so much. You really get a sense that there is this this relationship between the person and the object that becomes very much the topic of the film.
