The Relationship Between First Act and Third Act Setups

A lot of my client scripts are missing this 15 minute opening setup where every single little tiny moment is a setup for something later. It's almost as if they wrote the third act without reading the first act. So you have all these major reveals without anything setting them up. They just keep adding things to it. And I think fantasy tends to do that, maybe even Lord of the Rings. To make those into movies, you had to rewire them.
