It's not until 1941 that broad consumer guidance starts to become more of a thing. In 1977, the US government approach to nutrition shifts from trying to get people to eat more to getting people to eat less. They refer to it as the eat less pyramid when they're developing the food pyramid. The last risk is also happening during this time.
In the 1990s, the Food Pyramid was one of the most recognizable symbols in nutrition education. But where did it come from? Why was it created by the agriculture department? And why did it tell us to eat a whole loaf of bread every day?
