Carroll: I was struggling with depression and anxiety in the mid 2010s. She says cognitive behavioral therapy helped her realize that you are not your ideas. Carroll believes we're a person with many ideas that can change over time. The very idea that we are our ideas is what makes conversations so difficult, she says.
