Don't Charge Interest in Your Loans to Jews
The hebrew word for interest is neshe whi, which also means like a bite, a bite of an animal. It's prohibited for us to have interest in our loans to jews. If you take a collateral, it cannot be something which is of vital need for the borrower. Rashi tells us that our responsibilities are greatest to the people that are closest to us, our family, and then our neighbors,. The people of our city, the people of our community, and finally, the all of humanity.
