The 70 Faces of Torah

The number 70 has a kind of gravitas in Jewish tradition. The reason why we're mourning the translation is less because it's a translation and actually because the 70 came to uniformity. We want one Torah to refract through 70 different lenses. What we don't want is 70 distinct people to for group think and consensus and say this is the correct interpretation.
