The Origins of Fundamentalism

The doctrine of Biblical-literalism had its center in the United States. It was strict constructionism with a vengeance, and went beyond anything that Augustine or Calvin had previously demanded. The self-awareness of the movement was expressed in a series of 12 volumes known as the Fundamentals.
