The Impact of Melinda's Law on Door-to-Door Sales
South Western Advantage is a door-to-door sales company that has been accused of child exploitation and other abuses. The victims in the Wisconsin crash were between the ages of 16 to 25. South Western Advantage's employees work 80 hours a week, have IDs bearing the company logo but are not allowed to drive or leave their homes after 9pm. In 2010, an article from Salem News accused advantage of recruiting in foreign countries to take advantage of international students. They'd sponsored J-1 visas to allow students to come over for the summer, but because these young people are independent contractors they might not even have to do the work of helping them find safe housing.
