The Relational Turn of Dogs
Dogs is a perfect example of what you're talking about with this relational turn because it used to be that dogs were functional. But now we have things like dog mums and we have these tiny little hypoagenic dogs and people treat their dogs like they are humans. They buy valentines, day cards for them and they treat them like small babies. And I think those robots that present as more like animals than as humans reveal a lot more about the ways in which we allow for these entities to have an affect on us as human beings than any humanoid robot.
