Biden administration slow played that news from the public quite possibly because they wanted a distraction from Hunter Biden in the indictment. The only reason anyone knows about the Chinese spy balloon is because a couple of guys in Montana looked up and said, Holy crap, what's that way up in the sky? And they took pictures of the damn thing. It would have conducted espionage over US military bases and the Biden administration would have kept it utterly silent and secret.
