DevOps - Getting the DBAs Involved Early
With the state based approach, the script that's going to be run is generated during the deployment after inspection of the target database. But with the migration, you generate the developer generates the script, what even before a pull request. It really depends on the team and how much knowledge they have. And maybe for simple changes, developers are confident making those changes. But if it's a larger architectural change or collecting a lot more data, getting that DBA involved earlier so that they can be part of the change from the beginning.
