The Ethics of Grace

James can at first blush be a bit confusing especially when put right up next to the Apostle Paul who says that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Even Martin Luther, the catalyst for the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century called James an epistle of straw. But many Bible scholars over the years more deeply studied James and later on in his life would say we are saved by faith alone but we are not saved by a faith that is alone. They're both speaking and teaching the same substance but with different emphases.
