Britain or Europe as a whole and North America were joined together. There was no Atlantic Ocean and we were hovering around the equator. And then if you had landed on that strange landmass which is sometimes called the old red sandstone continent you wouldn't have seen very much on land. The name Devonian comes from Devon based around the area of Torqui in Tinmouth where these great reefs occur.
