How to Incentivize People to Contribute to the Commons

How do you even convince people to share what they're finding? I've spent a lot of time on on this question. Most people have no qualms about making their knowledge and discoveries public. Our tools are inadequate in fact like startupy today which is just an idea baby our most active users are reading on tools like matter or pocket.
