The Tragic Train Accident in Greece
It is the deadliest train crash in Greek history. Train unions had been warning that an accident like this may have been coming. Greece's years of austerity clearly contributed to this deadly crash, but through what mechanism exactly? Who is responsible for translating the idea of austerity into catastrophic reductions and spending on train infrastructure we've seen here? It's a really thorny question. Criminal cases are ongoing. We shouldn't be over-hasteel or glib in jumping to conclusions about exactly what happened in this case.
