The path to cricketing success appears to have narrowed. It's frustrating in a way, isn't it, in a world that should theoretically have become more egalitarian over time. Cricket itself has not helped itself after the 2005 ashes. For people who don't remember the 2005 ashes was a hugely significant moment in cricket because it was on national television and there was a big bus parade in Trafalgar Square. But then cricket went to only those who could afford to pay to watch it.
