The trauma informed approach to mental health says there is no mental illness. The brain and body are responding to external stressors and traumas in a normal way using coping mechanisms and trauma responses. Some of us are wired more emotionally over or under controlled. It's just kind of part of who we are. Doesn't mean that it's good or bad. But these things about us are normal way of being becomes either kind of twisted and maybe turned from adaptive to maladaptive when things happen to us as kids.
