How to Reject Busy Work
At circular, one of our company values is waste less. If you're working on something and you think it's not the most important thing to be working on right now, you are wasting time. We need to empower people, not just empower people, but make it clear that this is expected of them. It is their job to reject busy work. I had a very funny interaction with my direct manager at Uber who was slightly tipsy or drunk at the time. He sent me message one line at a time, almost one chat message at a time. And he said your job is to ignore me if I'm being stupid.
