When I first heard of Gerard, it was through Peter Keel. It seems like he's kind of like the singular responsible for Gerard's philosophy. And that's why I became so interested in his theory, but I initially got into it because of Peter. Anyone I know who spent more than 20 minutes thinking about memetic theory ... almost everyone really does kind of buy into like, there's a truth there.
