The Hardest Thing I've Had to Give Up

My mother passed away in 2013 and it was left to my sister and I to take care of her things. We both knew that she loved it and she wouldn't want to let it go. The decision to donate this thing that meant so much to my mother into a system that essentially anonymizes it, that sentiment of my mother has sort of disappeared into the ether,. So it was very painful. Those are tough moments, you know. And I think all of us as human beings at some point in this society in which we live in, we have to go through that moment. It's profoundly shaping.
