He was in his mid 30s I think when he did enter the competition and he was supported by half a dozen other architects none of whom were over the age of about 23. He led this team with a lot of political backing if you just say rationalism you might think of it as being something like Hasmiah or the buildings are quite classical and rich and expressive and almost deco-y well this one is deco yeah. The whole thing is cut through by this ribbon of glass which is expressed vertically so there's a big vertical stripe that comes down the facade and which actually is running across the roof as well.
