Primates Can Make Vowel Sounds

In theory, there were animals ready, speech-ready, as far back as 27 million years ago. But researchers don't actually think that speech arose to a 27 million year old. John Locke told Atlantic that he believes speech and language couldn't have evolved before humans began living in social groups.
