How were you supposed to have a strong sense of self when you stought to police your own thoughts, constantly monitoring them? How can you feel confident about who you are when you can't even trust your thoughts, or you won't even allow yourself to? Ecause i know it's a fucking process. It's not just going to happen overnight. And the thing is, self censuring doesn't happen overnight either. But growing up in the environment that i did, where my my dad was quite unpredictable when he was drunk, right where he would hit us or something would happen,.
