As a little girl, every hour of edith's day was scheduled and efficiently occupied. The piety, the diligence and the constant denial that would also have lifelong reprcussions. And there was fear. Once the family moved to new york city and edith was in her teem years, the hate began to seep in. Edith began to learn the world was a scary place. Education was prized in the family. Books were safe. Learning was safe. In later years, edith was quoted as saying that reading was more important to me than eating. I must feed my mind more than my body.
