The Importance of Practical Ethics in Philosophy

There were some philosophers who said it isn't really a subject all we can do they said is analyze the meanings of the moral terms. But fortunately that was just starting to change when I was doing my graduate work and I think it was starting to change really because of the student movement at the time. It did become possible to actually do what I call practical ethics or you can call it applied ethics and that became an important part of philosophy so you know it's not very clear why people thought politicians are the best authorities on what's right and wrong either.
